From 1-5 December, governments, Transform Health coalition partners, funders, technical experts, youth networks, civil society organizations, academia and private sector gathered in Nairobi at the Global Digital Health Forum (GDHF). They also participated in the Health AI Global Governance Forum (GGF) to advance digital transformation of health for universal health coverage.

One of the primary purposes of the summit was for Transform Health to launch the new Roadmap to 2030: Health For All in the Digital Age.

Digital technology, AI, and the better use of data can help us strengthen primary health care, support health workers, and extend quality care to those who need it most. But this transformation requires leadership and the right policies to ensure it benefits everyone. The Roadmap offers a clear, collective path forward, one that can help us harness digital innovation to accelerate UHC and move closer to achieving health for all.

National leadership and ownership happens when governments make digital transformation a key part of their political programs and develop an enabling legislative and regulatory environment, with clear and coherent policies and strategies, accompanied by costed plans and adequate resource allocation. This also requires the establishment of strong national management and coordination mechanisms, including multi-stakeholder platforms, which facilitates better coordination and alignment with a focus on digital transformation of health systems.

The second premise underlying the Roadmap to 2030 is that governments tend to prioritize issues their voters/citizens are concerned about and call on them to act on. Therefore, civil society plays a critical role, to call for government action, hold governments accountable, and ensure that the perspectives of the whole population are represented in the planning and development of digital health. This creates a wider economy of trust in digital health solutions developed with and for people.

The Roadmap to 2030 is structured around five goals organized around the following themes:

Each goal has three ambitions that will lead to its realization. Under each ambition is a list of actions that will achieve it. Click here to download the roadmap and goals.

Different stakeholders are invited to join and work with governments towards these common goals that will lead to the digital transformation of health systems and accelerate progress towards UHC by 2030.
